Safety is a vital part of the Klein Volunteer Fire Department training programs. Keeping with Safety being "Number One" members of the department attended CPR certification training classes. This training covered basic CPR plus the use of the department AED that are carried on each of the Pumpers. The training not only provides the members the knowledge of what might be needed during their duties at the department but also vital training that in an emergency could save another’s life at home and or work. Klein VFD has added CPR certification as a requirement to their annual basic training classes. New recruits are required to complete this important life saving training prior to becoming an active member of the department.

Members of the KVFD Exploring Post 31 completed hands on training covering the proper use and deployment of fire hoses.

Klein Volunteer Fire Department graduated 16 new recruits after the completion of the final day of Live Fire Training at Texas A & M in College Station on Saturday, October 23, 2004. “Safety Is Number One” - Klein VFD conducts annual driver training which includes classroom training and a hands-on driving course. Each member of the department must complete both the classes to remain as an apparatus driver. The classroom training covers the policies and guidelines for the safe operation of our vehicles and the laws that apply. The driver course is an obstacle course that puts the drivers training to the test. The training follows the guidelines outlined by VFIS and is update annually.

Klein VFD basic class 2004-001 members take a break during their ladder training to pose for a picture. Klein is proud to add these new recruits to our current membership of 125 men and women. These recruits volunteer their time to serve the community and must complete a training program of 57 hours.  Training includes Safety, First Aid, Communication, Ventilation, Ladders, SCBA, Search and Rescue, Hoses and Fire Streams.   The classes wrap up with an 8 hour training class on Hazmat and a trip to Texas A & M burn field for Live Fire training.

Safety is key during all aspects of training from classroom to hands on.  Safety is one of the first classes they complete and continues to be a focus at all times.

Class completes at the end of April 2004 and these recruits anxious to support their community.
