A Work In Progress

On Monday, 17 June, 2002, the first official piece of the Klein Volunteer Fire Department was set into the ground at the new station #34 and administration jobsite on Squyres Rd.  Members of KVFD station #34 constructed the frame to house the 4’ x 8’ aluminum sign, built exclusively for KVFD by Graphic Results, http://www.graphicresults.com . The holes were dug, the concrete poured, and the official “future home of sign” became a visible indication to the public of the changes and improvements that are now underway within the Klein Volunteer Fire Department.

The steady growth of the Klein community has necessitated the growth of the Klein VFD and its facilities.  The new administration building will replace the current headquarters at 19030 Stuebner-Airline, and will be built to accommodate business offices, meeting and training facilities, and storage for KVFD equipment and supplies.  The building will also house the IT hub which networks all KVFD stations and personnel.  Station #34 is also being relocated from its current home on Kleinwood Drive to the 2.3 acre site to accommodate more personnel, equipment, and parking.  Station #34 has simply outgrown the building that is currently in use. Housed at the new station will be Klein’s heavy rescue truck, a class A fire engine, and a reserve fire engine to be used across the district as required.  Look for more pictures to come as progress is made towards its completion, tentatively scheduled for February, 2003.
