New Station 32 Now Under Construction

On February 16th, 2005, a contract was signed between Harris County Emergency Services District No. 16 (HCESD #16) and Apache Services, Inc. for the construction of a new Klein Volunteer Fire Department Station #2. The new station will be built in a prime location just north of West FM 1960 at 14640 Gladebrook Drive. The location is near the southwest corner of the Oak Creek Village subdivision. This station will replace Klein’s existing Station #2 that has been located in the Oak Creek Village subdivision at Gladeridge Drive and Gladebrook Drive since 1973.

Harris County Emergency Services District No. 16 is the taxing entity responsible for providing funding for the Klein Volunteer Fire Department. HCESD #16 taxes real property in the district that district coinciding with the boundaries of the Klein Volunteer Fire Department. The current tax rate is five cents per hundred dollars valuation. This valuation is established by the Harris County Appraisal District.

Groundbreaking for the new station should occur about the end of February and the approximate duration of construction activities is 150 days.

Pictured near the sign showing the architect’s rendering of the new station are HCESD #16 Commissioners Bert Tandy, Pete Crawford, Herb Marker and Michael Rauschuber. Commissioner Bob Farrell was unavailable for the picture.
